Twisted Events
About the team that produces Wretch Like Me
In 2003, three friends—Dan Zastrow, Julia Lander, and David Templeton—produced the first of several benefit spoken-word events. It was called Twisted Christmas, an evening of outlandish Christmas tales read aloud on stage by an assortment of stand-up comics, actors, and musicians. Inspired to create other similar literary and theatrical events, Zastrow and Co. named their team Twisted Events. Engaging the talents of nearly 100 Bay Area performers, Twisted Events has since produced dozens of spoken word benefit events, and in 2009, produced its first play, Templeton’s one-man-show Wretch Like Me.
